One of the methods of associated petroleum gas (APG) recovery is its usage as fuel for autonomous gas-turbine and gas engine power plants, providing buildings and structures at remote fields with cheap electric power and heat.

Direct use of APG as fuel gas for gas-turbine and gas engine power plants without proper preparation results in power loss of power plants and wearing out of motors. For achievement of the installed power by gas-turbine and gas engine power plants, it is necessary to fulfill a number of requirements. Except for conventional requirements for purification from mechanical impurity and ensuring of dew points (for water and hydrocarbons), manufacturers of gas engine power plants also impose a requirement for composition and methane number of fuel gas.

For production of the proper quality fuel gas, LENNIIHIMMASH has developed the fuel gas treatment package.

In order to provide a possibility to transport and move the plant between facilities, it is supplied in skids with dimensions not exceeding the size of standard sea container. UPTG-1000 is supplied as one skid. Plants of greater performance are supplied in two skids: compressor block and heat-exchanger block.

Due to the fact that gas compositions can considerably differ at different fields, the plant is developed with a large potential for adjusting fuel gas quality. Basic technical specifications for UPTG-1000 (during operation at APG with volume of methane 0.7) are given in the table. A recalculation of heat exchange surface and a selection of compressor unit is carried out for each gas composition.

In order to ensure high quality of fuel gas, low temperature separation of APG is applied. Purification of gas from mechanical impurities and moisture. The gas purification from mechanical impurities and moisture is carried out on separators with patented louver-type packs. Gas drying is executed at adsorbers.
